User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X 10.4; en-US; rv:1.9.1.6) Gecko/20091201 Firefox/3.5.6 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X 10.4; en-US; rv:1.9.1.6) Gecko/20091201 Firefox/3.5.6 At first it appeared that all my bookmarks created in the last 2-3 weeks disappeared on restart. Then all but one of my toolbar bookmarks and folders on the toolbar disappeared, some of the links as old as 2 years or more. Some new bookmarks I save remain, other new bookmarks disappear as soon as I restart Firefox. AND TODAY THE WEIRDEST!!...An already existing bookmark url was overwritten by the url of a page I just browsed, not bookmarked! The url and icon of the browsed page were saved over an existing bookmark, whose name is still correct but now points to the wrong url and has the wrong icon...bizarre! Never had a problem until about a week ago, now Firefox appears to be completely on crack when it comes to Bookmark functionality. HELP! Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1.Save Bookmark 2.restart Firefox 3.new bookmark gone AND/OR 1.Save new bookmark 2. restart Firefox 3. browse random pages 4. Bookmark has adopted url and icon of browsed page! Actual Results: first example...bookmark disappeared, second example...Bookmark has adopted url and icon of browsed page! Expected Results: retain saved bookmarks, not screw with existing bookmarks randomly! default theme
Summary: Random bookmarks disappear on restart, random bookmarks overwriting already existing bookmarks → Random bookmarks disappear on restart, random url overwriting already existing bookmarks
http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Bookmarks+not+saved http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Lost+Bookmarks should help. This could be an extension that is causing this too, disable them one by one to see which is causing the issue. I would suggest you go to support.mozilla.com and ask for help there. They can help better than we can. If they determine that this is a firefox bug, reopen this bug report.
