It would be nice if "mime types" on createattachments.cgi was linked to a page
listing mime types so bugzilla users wouldn't have to guess. Some possible
lists to link to:

ftp://ftp.isi.edu/in-notes/iana/assignments/media-types/media-types
http://www.crosswinds.net/san-marino/~jom/filex/mime.htm
http://www.ltsw.se/knbase/internet/mime.htp

It seems like each of these lists has advantages and disadvantages.
Target Milestone: --- → Bugzilla 2.16

We are currently trying to wrap up Bugzilla 2.16. We are now close enough to
release time that anything that wasn't already ranked at P1 isn't going to make
the cut. Thus this is being retargetted at 2.18. If you strongly disagree with
this retargetting, please comment, however, be aware that we only have about 2
weeks left to review and test anything at this point, and we intend to devote
this time to the remaining bugs that were designated as release blockers.
Target Milestone: Bugzilla 2.16 → Bugzilla 2.18
Fixing summary -- this is obviously not showattachment.cgi. :-)
Summary: Link "mime types" on showattachment.cgi to a list of mime types → Link "mime types" on attachment.cgi to a list of mime types
Component: User Interface → attachment and request management
Given that Bugzilla now has an auto-guessing feature which works pretty well, I
think we should close this as WONTFIX. Jesse? :-)

I haven't had good experiences with Bugzilla's auto-detect feature (I think it
detected the first HTML file I tried as text/plain), but it may have improved
since I used it.

How many mime types can Bugzilla detect? Does it use the extension, mime type
associated with the extension on the user's system, or content-sniffing? Does
it detect .zip files correctly? If it doesn't know, does it give me an extra
chance to specify the mime type, or does it just guess and attach the file with
the wrong mime type?
It's completely dependent on the user's browser. It uses whatever mime-type
your browser says it is when the browser transmits it.
Enhancements which don't currently have patches on them which are targetted at
2.18 are being retargetted to 2.20 because we're about to freeze for 2.18.
Consideration will be taken for moving items back to 2.18 on a case-by-case
basis (but is unlikely for enhancements)
Target Milestone: Bugzilla 2.18 → Bugzilla 2.20
Bugzilla 2.20 feature set is now frozen as of 15 Sept 2004. Anything flagged
enhancement that hasn't already landed is being pushed out. If this bug is
otherwise ready to land, we'll handle it on a case-by-case basis, please set the
blocking2.20 flag to '?' if you think it qualifies.
