Reprodcuible on: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; en-US; rv:1.9.2) Gecko/20100105 Firefox/3.6

Not able to repro with Shiretoko nigtly on 10.6 nor at all on Win XP. Maybe it's a Flip4Mac WMV plug-in regression?

STR:
0) have a few tabs open
1) Load the test URL - https://litmus.mozilla.org/testcase_files/firefox/6347/
2) Allow the brief clip to play
3) switch tabs

tested results:
a black box remnant of the clip window is in every tab

expected results:
no black box

note: closing the tab with the test page or navigating away from test gets rid of the black box on all tabs.

Tracy: Please include the version of Flip for mac you were using when you tested this so we can crosscheck. Thanks.
2.1.0.33
Wow, that's a bad regression. Anyone knows other pages with wmv content? I wonder if those instances turn black too. We would need a regression range here. I will have a check now.
Mmh, I have tested with 3.5.6 on my other machine and the problem persist there too. Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; en-US; rv:1.9.1.6) Gecko/20091201 Firefox/3.5.6
Using Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; en-US; rv:1.9.2) Gecko/20100105 Firefox/3.6 and

File: Flip4Mac WMV Plugin.plugin
Version: 2.3.0.14

I don't see any remnants.

Also able to reproduced by downloading http://download.microsoft.com/download/a/0/1/a0115fb6-458a-4c4f-90d4-cd004a4a8266/Pinball.wmv. Then play it by DnDing the file to the browser window.

Tracy, can you run a test with the latest version Marcia pointed out?
Yes, OK, upgrading to Flip4Mac WMV Plugin Version: 2.3.1.2 made this go away.

So, questions:

1) should plugin detection be alerting users of the outdated plugin here?
2) should this be in release notes?

Summary: Remnant across all tabs from Windows Media Player Test → Outdated version of Flip4Mac plugin causes remnant across all tabs
Chris, does it qualify that version of the plug-in to get blocklisted?
yeah, soft blocking would make sense.
