So, on all 5 of your computers, it crashes the same way when you do the exact same things?

Is this with or without extensions?  If you have any extensions, please disable them and try again.  Also, the caps lock key is just to the right of the letter A.

P.S., if "millions of users" were having to go back to Internet Explorer, don't you think at least _one_ of them would be a reporter for a news organization and report on this?

I cannot reproduce on any of my computers, Ubuntu, XP, Vista, nor 7. This may be an addon. Can you reproduce on Safe mode? http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode

Not sure if we should be resolving this so quickly, but I will leave it that way for now.

If you would like to provide some helpful information for this bug so that we can create a patch (if there is indeed a bug in firefox) is to follow a couple of steps.
First, provide a stacktrace:

Second, try safe mode as tanner suggested. If you still get a crash, try in a new profile. http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Managing+profiles
If you still get a crash then, give us exact steps that give a crash every time you do them. then, we will be able to try to reproduce for ourselves.
If you are having multiple issues (as it sounds like because you also mentioned scrollbars), then you should go to support.mozilla.com. They can help you resolve them and send you back here if there is an actual bug in firefox.

OK  where do I start...

PROFILES:  ALL machines have never had probs with FIREFOX - NEVER! and have been using for over a decade!

NO machines running any profiles other than the default. Nothing fancy on any.

Safe Mode - Yes, tried.  Crashes even sooner!

SITE REPLICATION:

UNder map, clik-on '...in motion'.  Dont even get THAT far in safe mode.  crashes almost as soon as its finished loading.

In SAFE mode, I choose:

- DISABLE all Add-ons
- RESTORE default Search engines

and then clik "continue in safe mode".

When It crashes, crash notice says (verbatim):

UNFORTUNATELY THE CRASH REPORTER IS NOT ABLE TO SUBMIT A CRASH REPORT.
DETAILS: THE APPLICATION DID NOT LEAVE A CRASH DUMP FILE.

Not a Programmer, but I think its obvious its not leaving a hint.

I have also formally turned off ALL Add-ons (except JAVA CONSOLE & JAVA QUICKSTARTER): still crashing. makes no difference.

We r simple Users here. Nothing sophisticated allowed on these Co. Machines. Users may only subscribe to "allowed add-on's".  However with them turned off, dont know if we're looking in the right direction.

ALLOWED: WOT, SSL BLACKLIST, NOSCRIPT, FINJAN SECURE BROWSING,COLORFUL TABS,  BETTERPRIVACY.  Other than what system puts in it (Java stuff), Thats it!

MAchines have been scanned for viruses this evening.  no machines were infected.
MAchines use multiple sources for anti-virus so KNOW they're clean; that is, some use CLAMWIN, others AVG, ALL use SPYBOT, SPYWAREBLASTER, are firewalled with ZONEALARM and in excellent condition considering age of some.

dont write this off! Its a MAJOR CONCERN. If it were only one 1 machine, or something weird about what we do with these machines, would be the first to tell u so.  

In the meantime, consider the fact that most people wont even tell u. They dont have the time. MOST wouldnt even know HOW to report it to u anyway!!  Im giving u my time & consideration in the matter of knowing BEFORE u discover - a year from now- FIREFOX USER BASE HAS DROPPED SIGNIFICANTLY BECAUSE OF USER DISSATISFACTION & INHERENT PROBLEMS. I dont have to.  

Well...  MUST switch cause cant keep crashing. Not going to load 3.6 on the rest; will send out URGENT advisory for all other Depts.  Time to give CHROME a try.

We FIXED prob tho. Was very simple. Had Company Techs here simply backpedal; re-install older FIREFOX ver. 3.58...  everything fine now.

If you want to leave it like this, fine. However, a crash report could help us find out the real cause of this problem...

It would be cool, if you could send us the crash ID, you can find it the following way:
1. Send reports to Mozilla. 
2. Enter about:crashes in the Firefox location bar and press Enter.
3. Now you can find the IDs. Copy them and paste them here. 

You could be helping us resolve your problem, if you do this.

If you don't want: Fine, close the bug as INCOMPLETE.

It's really up to you.

without better clues I think this may be flash related, but sounds like Guy is waiting for some future update, so I'm closing this incomplete.

if you choose to update the bug based on FF 3.6...

other things to check

* was this also seen on machines that are XP or vista?  (I just noticed this report is win2k.)

* hardware related issues (if all the computers you tried were of same model or video)

* other crash bug reports. partial list http://bit.ly/71uNky

* https://developer.mozilla.org/En/How_to_get_a_stacktrace_for_a_bug_report - without that there's no hope of identifying a fix. windbg is really easy to use to get a stack

quick response to questions -

As mentioned - tried about:crashes (on all)  - not developing a dump report when it crashes, sorry. would be glad to send, of course, otherwise. I know...  strange, isnt it.

- Yes, happens to XP machinesa here too, except dont crash. They just play (streaming vid) for a while, then lock, or just stop responding. Knowing what I do about Prob, cannot put on newer WIN7 machines we're receiving.

PC's:  varied! drastically. Some new -Intel. 1 old running AMD, NVidia Game card, etfc., etc.  No 'one' the same. In fact, one is our WIN2003 Server running SQL. FIREFOX just plain crashes on it, like it does on the WIN2K machines. dont know...

Setup of StackTrace Reports: MY Techs r over-burdened now. Wouldnt dare ask -sorry. Even if I could, would takes weeks for them to get to...  maybe if we get a break, I'll try/ask; get back to u. Under the circumstances though, have serious doubts whether it would generate anyway. For some reason, its simply not dumping.

Any other way I can help, let me know.

Why did you mark this FIXED? There was no patch checked into the tree, so this is not a FIXED bug. INCO unless we get a stacktrace.

the fact that you aren't seeing anything in about:crashes makes this interesting. (my thinking is these PCs are all using some piece of software, the same software, that's causing both the crash *and* not allowing it to dump).

Are these machines getting windows updates?  For example, your XP system is not at SP1 (I hope)

I am having similar issues. All 3.6 at home crash all of a sudden. Have sent crash reports every time. Hoping to hear back. May, for the first time, move back to 3.58.
