When clicking on a link within an external application (could be a link in an e-mail) Firefox opens 2 browser windows.

This has been tested on Mac OS/X 10.5 and 10.6 on both Intel- and PPC machines.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Find an e-mail with a link for any website.
2. Make sure Firefox is your default browser.
3. Click on the link and observe that that 2 Windows opens.
Actual Results:
2 browser windows will be open. One contains the destination which the link refers to while the other window show your browser homepage.

Expected Results:
Only the one window with the destination should be opened.

Tested this with- and without any extensions enabled. Tested with default Firefox 3.6 theme.
