It acts like the key doesn't work. But the 'Enter' key works 100% fine in all other apps and games, both with the laptop keyboard, and a USB keyboard. I figured out the problem is AVG Antivirus. I'm not sure whether the problem is AVG's fault or Mozilla's, but the two do not run compatible together. I found a solution to this problem, however. AVG Safe Search is an Extension in Firefox's Add-ons, disabling fixes the 'Enter' key problem. AVG Internet Security Version: 8.5.435 Processor: x86 Family 6 Model 14 Stepping 12, GenuineIntel OS: Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP Home Edition Windows Version: 5.1 Build Number: 2600 Service Pack: Service Pack 3 Total Memory: 1015 MB Free Memory: 347 MB Good Luck!!! Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Download Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:22.214.171.124) Gecko/20100202 Firefox/3.5.8 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) 2. Make sure AVG 8.5.435 is installed. 3. Make sure the 'AVG Safe Search' Extension is enabled. (Found in Firefox > Tools > Add-ons > Extensions.) Note: AVG Security Toolbar can still be enabled as an Extension in Firefox. Actual Results: The same thing happened, the 'Enter' key doesn't function in the address bar of Firefox while 'AVG Safe Search' Extension Add-on is enabled. Expected Results: I think you can answer that one. Please email me if I've been helpful!!! I'd like to know I helped fix this AWESOME program! email@example.com Good Luck Team!

So you want me to report this to AVG?
Ross, that's what I would do. But what's extremely weird about this was it was rumored AVG fixed this exact bug back in the summer of 2009. And that only versions of AVG SafeSearch 8.0 and below were still affected. bug 479095 indicates that as well and tries to autoblock the lower versions to prevent people from having this problem. I'd report it here too: http://forums.avg.com/us-en/avg-free-forum?sec=theme&act=show&id=75 Scroll down past the "AVG 8.5 Free Edition - Topics" section to see the actual threads and post one about this issue if you'd like. Also this thread surprises me too: AVG Safe Search v126.96.36.1991 bug in Firefox 3.5.5 - http://forums.avg.com/us-en/avg-free-forum?sec=thread&act=show&id=41833 And you have the latest AVG of the 8.5 series. What is the version number on the AVG Safe Search extension? I believe that number differs from the main AVG version.
We're now tracking such bugs. This doesn't mean it's something we can fix, merely something we hope to be able to point vendors to so they can investigate. This is an automated message.
