Opentochoice.org site is ready for translation. This is a Wordpress installation, so we have installed a Wordpress plugin to make translation easy. You can see all the strings available for translation of the theme here http://opentochoice.stage.mozilla.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=sitepress-multilingual-cms/menu/string-translation.php#icl-st-toggle-translations Around 50 strings are ready for translation.
To translate the site using the WPML tool, you need to open the page listed above and click "translations" next to the string you want to work on. Scroll down to your locale and enter the translation. Once translated, you need to check "translation complete". You can preview your work at http://opentochoice.stage.mozilla.com/?lang=<locale> where <locale> is a short code (e.g. en, es, fr. (no country party)).
Earlier this week, you may have translated, or have begun translating, a letter from John and Mitchell about the Choice campaign. For the letter translation, you may upload it here: http://opentochoice.stage.mozilla.com/wp-admin/edit.php
If you need any help, please contact us.

Please don't upload .po files through the Wordpress interface, it's very easy to break stuff this way. Or if you really have to, please ping me on IRC first :)
Please either use the web panel at
http://opentochoice.stage.mozilla.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=sitepress-multilingual-cms/menu/string-translation.php or attach the PO file to this bug.
Thanks.

I guess Topal is the only one who can log in and translate it?

I usually don't do web localization, that's what Michael does.

I can add you to the site. Want me to do that? What email should I use for your login credentials? You will be emailed a username and password once you post the email in this bug thread.

Pascal, I meant giving him access to the wordpress instance as well. Usually Michael translates and I review.

Michael, I have added you, you should have received an email with instructions to connect
Comment 10•15 years ago

Yeah, got it. I'll start translating.
Comment 11•15 years ago

Pascal, could you please add me as well?

There is trouble with my account: I can log in, but when I try to access the link <http://opentochoice.stage.mozilla.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=sitepress-multilingual-cms/menu/string-translation.php#icl-st-toggle-translations> I'm told that "You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page." Any suggestions?

kadir, you are added

Michael, that's a wordpress bug, you first need to go to the WPML section and click on the "Go advanced" green button in the top-right corner

Taking the risk of asking a stupid question, where am I supposed to find the WPMl section? According to screenshots I've seen, the link is supposed to be on the left, below the "Settings" link. It's not there, though.

I can't find any difference between your account and other localizers', maybe you need to create a first post to have WPML activated, can you try?

It seems to be a problem with my browser's settings on Ubuntu. The button is there on Windows. Sorry for the confusion.

Pascal, I didn't get an email yet. Am I supposed to use my svn login?
Comment 19•15 years ago

kadir, you should have received it at a.topal@redronin.de, check spam?
Comment 20•15 years ago

strange, I did not receive any mail. Could you send it again, to atopal@gmail.com this time?
Comment 21•15 years ago

kadir, done
Comment 22•15 years ago

Ok, the translation is basically done, however, it still needs proofreading. Kadir, could you do that, if your account is now working?

Michael, thanks a lot for your work. Here are some suggestions you may want
to consider:
> Erfahren Sie mehr über Wahl
Sounds kinda strange. How about "die Auswahl" or at least "die Wahl"?
> Melden Sie sich an und wir schicken Ihnen alle Informationen, ...
Insert a comma after "Melden Sie sich an"
> Geben Sie Ihre E-Mail-Adresse ein
It's unfortunate that the text doesn't fit in the visible input field.
I think the wording is okay. If only the input elements were a little
wider.
Links at the bottom ("Datenschutzerklärung", "Rechtliche Hinweise" and "Urheberrechtsverletzung melden")
Are there translated versions of these pages we could link to? If not,
is there a chance we can translate them in time before going live?

I second that.
> > Melden Sie sich an und wir schicken Ihnen alle Informationen, ...
> Insert a comma after "Melden Sie sich an"
A comma is not necessary but would be ok.
> Links at the bottom ("Datenschutzerklärung", "Rechtliche Hinweise" and
> "Urheberrechtsverletzung melden")
> Are there translated versions of these pages we could link to? If not,
> is there a chance we can translate them in time before going live?
Marco, in some other translations as well we don't have translated these texts because that are legal texts and should be translated by lawyers.
Michael, please use – instead of — in the whole article (e.g in "nachgedacht haben — dass so", see http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halbgeviertstrich).
> der wichtigsten und am meisten vertrauten Bestandteile
der wichtigsten und vertrautesten Bestandteile
(Maybe this wording would be shorter and cleaner.)
> einem freien open-source Web-Browser
einem freien Open-Source-Web-Browser
or (better?)
einem freien, quelloffenen Web-Browser
> wenn es für Sie Zeit ist, zu wählen.
wenn es für Sie Zeit ist zu wählen.
(No comma is necessary in this case.)
> wenn Sie (1) mehr über Auswahl
wenn Sie (1) mehr über die Browser-Auswahl
Very well done, Michael!

- Urheberrechtsverletzung melden
+ Markenrechtsverletzung melden
