The testcase instructs to restart Thunderbird, and expects that this will immediately delete messages over the number set.
However, per bug 479207 comment #9, the correct methodology would probably set mail.purge.min_delay to a low number, such as 1, and wait for the proper amount of time to elapse before checking.
I'm working on new wording right now, and should be done soon.

Disabled testcase 5715, which is an exact copy in another group, and added the other group to this testcase. Running through the revised testcase now, before publishing.
Litmus is being decommissioned in bug 802674.
