Using PR3 Commercial 2000100208 on Win98 SP2.
To repro:
1) visit http://www.station.sony.com/everquest/
2) click "Message Board" (under "Community" on bottom left edge of page)
3) click Back button
Expected: return to previous URL
Actual: no effect
Note that Back button has no effect for the duration you remain on this site.
You can click links and go to sub pages, but you can't go Back.
If you then click the Netscape N and then hit Back, Back now seems to be working
again.
Earlier, there was an internal thread about "lock-in" sites that disable the
Back button in various ways; could this be an example of this.

Nominating rtm to put on tracking radar until we determine how serious this bug
is. Want to make sure that there is no fundamental problem with Back.

BTW we've received a press inquiry about this issue, so any timely info would be
greatly appreciated!!!

Reporter tells us that same thing doesn't happen in IE. Either it's a bug (not a
lock-in site), or it's lock-in technique specific to Navigator not IE.

networking or themes? if the Back menu item (main menu or context menu) also
fails, then this should go to networking... i think this is wrong component.

nav triage team:
if this is only happening on this site or has to do with some kind of special
lock in they do on their, we should rtm- this. If it is a bigger, more general
problem, we will consider.
This could be a dupe of your other bug that has to do with redirects ...

One way to look at this bug is to open the web site in a new nav window. Click
on a link, and see that nothing appears in the history (back button is "off").
The behavior seems different then the redirect history problem so probably is
not a dupe of bug 39938.

I've looked at this with a 2000100408 branch build.
After throwing out several hypotheses I finally noticed, that this is a framed
page so all bets are off.
Radha, this has got to be a dupe of bugs in the genre of 'back and forward don't
work well on framed pages'

nav triage team: rtm- to get this off the radar.
claudius: This is just a dupe of the other Back/Fwd don't work w/frames bugs.

Visiting the above url from an existing brower works fine. Ic an go
back/forward. If you do a "Open in new browser", that is a bug addressed by
56062. marking this dupe of that. from the way the reporter has described, it
looks like he hit 56062. Johng has also experienced the same. marking this a
dupe of 56062
