Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.4; en-US; rv:1.9.2.3) Gecko/20100401 Firefox/3.6.3
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.4; en-US; rv:1.9.2.3) Gecko/20100401 Firefox/3.6.3

When Firefox is opened by double clicking a URL on the desktop opens the URL and an extra new window. This is new behavior in Firefox 3.6.3

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Quit Firefox. Bug does not occur when Firefox is already open
2.Double click a URL on the desktop to launch Firefox
3.You get a window with the URL and a blank window
Actual Results:
Get a window with the URL and a blank window

Expected Results:
Get one window with the URL loaded

Problem began when I installed 3.6.3 and never occurred in earlier versions.
Happening under Mac OS 10.6 also. Firefox 3.6.3.
By the way, this problem predates this version by quite a bit. There are other reports on this, so this is a dupe.
Perhaps the problem predates 3.6.3 but it never happened on my machine (or my wife's, which has a later operating system, until we installed 3.6.3, and now it happens 100% of the time, so something changed in the current version of Firefox.
scottito,

Do you normally get a blank window when you launch Firefox?

Did you went from Firefox 3.5.x to 3.6.3? The reson I ask is that (if I'm right about the issue), this issue existed in 3.6 too.
Also happens when clicking on a text file (html) and choosing "open with Firefox".
(I usually open these files in Text Edit for editing purposes.)
Reporter, are you still seeing this issue with Firefox 3.6.13 or later in safe mode? If not, please close. These links can help you in your testing.

You can also try to reproduce in Firefox 4 Beta 8 or later, there are many improvements in the new version, http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-beta.html

Assuming the reporter went from 3.5.x to 3.6.x, this is a dupe of bug 531552. It's actually fixed in 3.6.x, but the issue still remains in beta 4.
