User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10_5_8; en-us) AppleWebKit/531.22.7 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Safari/531.22.7
Build Identifier:
Propose that an RPX-like (https://rpxnow.com/) experience be enabled on the Drumbeat site, i.e., participants should be able to log-in via an existing identity service, not just via a new Drupal registration.
Not only is this a better user experience, but it's also a bit more, um, "open" -- which would seem to serve a project like Drumbeat well.
HTH,
Phillip.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Visit the registration page
2. Look for other ways to register, e.g., OpenID
3. Feel a grave sense of despair that I need to set-up yet another user account just for Drumbeat
Actual Results:
Sadness.
Expected Results:
Fast log-in bliss.

Agreed! Have added to development roadmap
https://wiki.mozilla.org/Drumbeat/Roadmap#Beta_Site_1.0
Question is when and how to implement.
a) Before Beta or after Beta launch?
b) Need analysis and recommendations on best way to implement.

I'll go for before BETA because ..

.. introducing this functionality is as easy as enabling the OpenID module which is a part of Drupal core and being part of core should / (does from what i have seen) work perfectly.

Interestingly with the OpenID module enabled anyone who has a Mozilla.SN account will be able to login to mozilla Drumbeat with their Mozilla.SN profile URI eg. http://mozilla.status.net/paulbooker

@Matt @Paul
Shall we enable this module on Drumbeat stage & take it for a spin?

Hi Paul,
Yeah, why not. The Drupal openid module is fairly simple, so let's see if it "just works".
Cheers,
Paul

Hi Paul
The OpenID is now enabled on production.
Currently a user with an existing drumbeat account can add their OpenID account and then later login to drumbeat using their OpenID account but a new user who tries to login with their OpenID account still has to provide a username / email address on drumbeat.org which is not ideal.
I'll continue investigating Monday

Paul Booker
