Details

Using 2000-10-09-08 commercial branch build on NT

1. Go to FTP directory. I used
ftp://sweetlou/products/client/seamonkey/windows/32bit/x86/
2. Download a file onto your disk. I used N6Setup.exe
3. Download the file again, this time you get the overwrite warning, say Yes to
overwrite the file

Expected: one copy of the file on disk
Actual: every time you download, you get a new version of the file, e.g.
N6Setup.exe, N6Setup-1.exe, N6Setup-2.exe, etc.

This bug caused me to think I was running the most recent version of the app
when I wasn't (in fact I was just reinstalling the N6Setup version of the app
over and over again.

Since I install the app this way every day, I'm pretty sure this broke sometime
in the 10/4 or 10/5 timeframe.

jrgm, isn't this a dup of something you filed last week?
Yes, this is pretty much bug 55628, although I noticed it when doing an HTTP
download. In that situation, these foo-1.exe, foo-2.exe variants are not being
created, but the contents of foo.exe are not replaced with the contents that
are downloaded. Could mark this a dup, or just give it to mscott and let him
decide.
