This is annoying. The mouse be slid from right to left in a downward motion toward the other corner of the monitor. Just a little slide is enough. This is done almost without thinking. Just a natural movement of the cursor from right to left after clicking the "X". This only happens with Firefox. No other applications. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1.Move mouse from right to left just after clicking "X". 2.Must be an instant. 3.Computer should reboot after that. Actual Results: Read above in "Details". Expected Results: Expected browser to close. But computer reboots, if mouse gesture is done just right. Simply closed. This has been going for quite awhile, even with updates. Current version I have is 3.6.3.
Firefox should not be able to crash your computer, the operating system should protect itself against that. Are you sure there's nothing else wrong on your computer ?
Quite sure. My computer is quite secure and stable. And has been for years. I know it will take number of tries to replicate this error, but you will stumble upon it, eventually. And I said, this will not occur with any other app.
Firefox can not crash your OS, as it is a userspace app, not a kernalspace. So, it has to be something else. Drivers (video or mouse maybe?) anti-virus, firewall, etc. Get all windows updates as well. But Firefox alone can't do this.
I don't know, but I like to use Firefox at Full Screen (maximized), I like to have All my apps maximized when using them. So, I just put the mouse all the way to the upper right corner (without thinking about it) when ready to close, and if I slide the mouse just right after exiting firefox, the machine will reboot upon exit. As you said, maybe its drivers or something. I have Nvidia drivers. Maybe they use mouse shortcuts for something, rebooting or shutting down. They're the latest drivers and work well. As I said, this only happens with firefox. The mouse driver is windows. You don't have to spend years trying to solve this problem, I don't expect a quick fix. Firefox is a good browser, just this thing is annoying.

It's possible that it starts working again with newer FF versions but that would be luck. Do you already tried to disable the automatic reboot for Blue Screens in the windows system control ? You may see a Blue Screen and there could be more information in it. Are there any BSODs logged in the windows system control ? marking this bug invalid. Firefox isn't able to reset a modern OS. It's always a system/hardware/driver issue if it happens. and that isn't fixable on our side.

Damn, really unexpected when it happens.
Do you realize that this is the only report that claims that this happens ? I think that there's a very big chance that there's something wrong on your computer. Not the browser, or other people would have reported it.
Maybe other people don't use the browser at full screen.
These reboots are just lovely. And every time one happens, I'm going to post it here. Like just now.

the browser did it again. this time i noticed it was when i was working on important stuff. i have no viruses or trojans to speak of. here are a list of the plugins i have: bandoo (after looking at this, i decided to uninstall it) browser defender toolbar (but it is disabled) CCTV player plugin, but it is new. Chatzilla (irc) Downloadhelper (for youtube videos) FirefoxMenuButtons (disabled) Java Console Meebo Toolbar Buttons 0.6.0.8 Xrl.In tiny links again, the browser seems to reboot the (whole) computer when i am done working on stuff (when i close it) or installed an important program. and i do not like the tech's comment, I AM NOT A SPAMMER, firefox reboots the computer and this agggrrrravating!!!! firefox is a good browser and i use it more than anything. it seems to reboot the computer when i am working on important stuff and not even thinking of the browser, it seems to do this when i am busiest and not thinking about it at all (which is when i'm most vulnerable, then pow!! always when i close the browser). seems Mozilla is more like Godzilla wreaking terror on unsuspecting people.
There is nothing we can do, this is not caused by us, and it is physically impossible for us to fix.

Then you shouldn't be working at Firefox Tyler. You now have another poster with the same problem. You gonna threaten him with account banning for reporting a problem that is real. As you can see, the ppl at firefox were no help. And actually, downright rude. They put no effort into investing the problem. Simply said "VERIFIED INVALID". Pretty freakin rude if you ask me. I have since moved on from that version of firefox and computer. I used Opera for the longest time after that and then checked to see if the bug was fixed in the later versions. The newer versions seem ok, but if you're having the same problem, then something's wrong. And I know it wasn't plugins or anything for me. I just started to happen one day. And I had added nothing to the machine. I notice with every fresh install of firefox, it call the bbc. What's up with that? Even if you delete the "News" button, it still phones home to the bbc upon restart. Why does the Crown need to know where I am?
