The only clue I noticed is that, when it happens, the log reports a bunch of

"during" the test, but that may just be because the test is already hung?

If this is a debug tbox, are there any exceptions logged stderr in this case?

Doesn't matter; reftests wait for the onload event anyway.

All our tests are on debug builds, yes. Due to machine shortage, we cannot run more than one set of tests, and debug ones give us more info, so it's those we do run.

Unfortunately, I don't see much info printed out to the log here - this is all I see in the last of the logs from comment #0 from the first mention of this test file to slightly after the timeout:
