User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.2.3) Gecko/20100401 Firefox/3.6.3 FireTorrent/1.1pre Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.2.3) Gecko/20100401 Firefox/3.6.3 FireTorrent/1.1pre Flash does not work when it is embedded in an html page which is referred to from an xul iframe within the sidebar. It simply displays a blank screen. It had been working up to 3.5.x and add-ons such as YouPlayer depended on it and are now broken. We desperately need a fix to get our product and add-on working in 3.6.3. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. See description above. 2. 3.
Alok, any chance you could help track down when this stopped working? Did it work in the initial 3.6 release (i.e. 3.6.0)? Did it work in any of the 3.6 alphas or betas that were released? You can find old release builds at ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/ and ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/namoroka/.

Also cc:ing some other plugin people in case this is a known issue already...
See bug 534355. wmode="transparent" or wmode="opaque" may be useful workarounds.
What is the add-on supposed to do that it isn't? I tried Youplayer with both 3.5.x and 3.6.x and both seemed to work the same with a few issues. Issues: 1. In the Youplayer sidebar, I couldn't get the little box at the top (I think it plays video) to work. 2. The options menu when opened from the Add-ons window looked odd. It looked like it had opened a window but there was no window opened...
We're basically playing flash games and videos. We actually found a temporary workaround--treating the sidebar as an iframe in a tabbed browser. We're still very keen for a full fledged, stable solution. Not sure when this broke as it was working up through 3.5.9, but is broken as of 3.6.3. Hope that helps--please let me know as you're able to discover more.
Is the problem that the videos and games will not play in the top of the sidebar? Or something else? Which build of Youplayer do I need to test with?
Exactly--videos and games don't play in the top of the sidebar. Try Youplayer .9.8 in FF 3.6.3, videos don't play at the top it just stays totally black.
I can't reproduce so I can't track down when it broke. Is bug 534355 the same bug (from comment 3)?
Hi Matt, you were able to play youtube videos in the youplayer sidebar in 3.6.3??? We haven't been able to do that (via simple vanilla installation of youplayer into ff 3.6.3)?! Setting type="content-primary" is a workaround for our problem (to enable flash to work in the sidebar), but it's not the solution.
You're right, bug 534355 is basically the same problem we're facing--I'll post our workaround there as well.
Actually, I couldn't get it to play videos in the sidebar in any builds. I'm marking as a duplicate of bug 534355. If you think they should stay separate, you can change the status back but give a reason they are different bugs and should be kept separate.
