From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux 2.2.15 i686; en-US; m18) Gecko/20001010 BuildID: 2000101015 No back function in frameset... specific to opening a new window ?? Reproducible: Very specific case.. and every time.. other cases not too sure... Steps to Reproduce: Check out some hotmail Visit a link from a mail Surf furthe rin the new window.. then try the back button (assuming the hotmail frame remains on top) Actual Results: No 'Back' functionality I was looking at my hotmail e-mail.. and visited a link from it. This opens the link in a new window.. topped by a hotmail frame.. The page I visited was at OSurceforge.. if that's any help.. and what happened was that after visiting a few pages in sourceforge.. under the frame.. the back button remained unlit.. and would not let me back my way through previous pages in that browser. Might be related to bug: 55359 Expected Results: Expect it to go back to the previous page in the lower frame. I am quite partial to chocolate cake. But I don't see why that's relevant.
html frames, this is also on win98 on http://www.cinescape.com/

It looks like bug 46828 (which 55359 was declared a dup of) is getting close to being fixed...
Bug 46828 is now fixed. This is still a problem in 2000101908 on Win2k, so appearently they weren't related.
I see this at mail.yahoo.com occasionally. Saw it on today's comm linux build 2000101909.
Why is this pollmann? Shouldn't it be radha? /be
Yes, this probably belongs to Radha. It is certainly similar to, and possibly a duplicate of, bug 46845.

ack, make that bug 46828.
this is not a duplicate of 46828. 46828 has been fixed. If this bug remains, it is therefore not a dupe.
One more: http://www.olivettilexikon.com/index2.html Press Products in upper frame. No back is possible.
Priority: P3 → P2
Summary: back button not working in frameset → back button not working in frameset (DIFFERENT THEN 46828)
1. Load http://www.hansa.ee/ 2. Press "Erakliendile" in the right frame 3. No back. www.hansa.ee - is the biggest bank in Estonia (about 60% of the market) and is one of a most visited pages in Estonia.

Another one - http://www.h-oda.com/ Load it. Press some buttons on the left frame. No Back is avaleble. mtrunk-2000110410 Many framed pages are affected. We need to nominate it for RTM, if we want a good first impression of NS6.

Updating summary to be a better description (simply saying DIFFERENT THEN 46828 kept getting me confused and made it hard to find this bug when I was looking for it).
Summary: back button not working in frameset (DIFFERENT THEN 46828) → back button not working in frameset when new window is opened by a link
Yep, these are still broken even with Radha's fix to bug #46828. It should be noted that only the "Back" button is broken in these examples. In all but one case, the "Go" menu still works. So there is, at least, a workaround.
Summary: back button not working in frameset when new window is opened by a link → back button not working in frameset (DIFFERENT THEN 46828)
Summary: back button not working in frameset (DIFFERENT THEN 46828) → back button not working in frameset when new window is opened by a link
This bug was creted for "back button not enabled when a frameset page is the first page to load in a browser window.". This is addressed by 56062. This bug later got morphed in to a bug for geberal frameset failures. marking this a dupe of 56062 and moving some of the urls listed here to 46828, which deals with general frameset failures. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 56062 ***
