User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; nl; rv:1.9.2.3) Gecko/20100401 Firefox/3.6.3 ( .NET CLR 3.5.30729) Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; nl; rv:1.9.1.9) Gecko/20100317 Thunderbird/3.0.4 Hereby I'm providing you with the information (XML file) needed to add the mail servers of the Dutch provider KPN to the ispdb. I added the information to the list on mozillamessaging.com, see http://ispdb.mozillamessaging.com/details/348, but the resulting XML file turned out to be flawed, so I tried to fix it manually. Someone should probably verify that all required fields are present in the XML file. A few points of attention: - The XML file contains <emailProvider id="">. I did not know what to enter there and it was left blank when I added the server data to the ispdb with the form on mozillamessaging.com. - The username field for the outgoing server is intentionally left blank. Outgoing mail authentication is done by client IP address; only those on the KPN network can send email through this SMTP server. A username is not required. To my knowledge, KPN does not allow outside use of their SMTP server, not even via some sort of secure authentication. The URL I supplied gives the server settings in Dutch. Reproducible: Always

It looks like insecure pop is the only protocol they support, and while each of the domains seems to have their own server (mail.hetnet.nl, mail.planet.nl, etc), they all resolve to the same IP address, so I don't mind putting them all together like this. Oh, and I ran into an odd problem trying to auto-probe for the settings. But that's another bug. Specifically, it's bug 568153, I think. Later, Blake.

Comment on attachment 447747 [details] v1.1 ispdb data for Dutch ISP KPN Bad ISP. Config looks OK, with the mentioned limitations. confirmed WHOIS and DNS MX. MX and pop.* indeed share the IP address, so it's OK (there's no virtual hosting in POP or SMTP).
