Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.2.3) Gecko/20100423 Ubuntu/10.04 (lucid) Firefox/3.6.3 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.2.3) Gecko/20100423 Ubuntu/10.04 (lucid) Firefox/3.6.3 My homepage is Google. When I open Firefox, I sometime start typing an address into the URL bar immediately, while Google is still loading. Now obviously Google loads very quickly. When I am in the middle of typing in my address example: facebook.com), the carat jumps to Google's search bar on the main page. The result is that 'fa' is in my address bar, and 'cebook.com' is on my Google page. I understand this might not be a bug (in fact, it might even be intentional), but it really is annoying. Who wants to Google every URL instead of directly going to it? I understand that the Firefox URL bar lets you search the internet, but some people just want to go to a website! Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Set homepage to Google 2. Load Firefox 3. Instantly start typing a URL into the address bar, while Google is loading 4. Notice where the carat goes while you are doing that >.> Actual Results: Same thing I described. Expected Results: The bug I am reporting. Instead, Firefox should disallow webpages from stealing the carat from the address bar.
This will be fixed for Firefox 4
