Created attachment 448775 [details] Screengrab of how duplicate email addresses on registration are handled Currently if a user tries to register an account with an email address that is already in the system, the registration fails. There is no explicit message on why it failed, although the email section is highlighted in red. A notification message (that includes a link to the forgotten password page) would probably help clarify why the registration failed and prevent user confusion.
Looks like I left the error messages out of the reg form entirely. r68345 should fix.
