> This has something to do with the prefetching feature of Windows?
I have a feeling that prefetching is not the problem at all. I think it has something to do with starting Firefox while Windows Vista is still performing some tasks after the initial user logon which occurs after a shutdown or reboot.

Does this still show with Firefox 4 final?

This bug was reported using a pre-release version of Firefox 4. Now that Firefox 4.0.1 final has been released, can you please update and retest your bug? A fresh profile would be a good starting place to test,

I suspect that the slow startup was Firefox updating. On Windows there is now an updater service. The service should eliminate such issues.
