Currently, the front page of QMO links along the left side to "How Can I Help?" which, I suspect, is one of the most direct ways we hope to engage new community members. Right now it reads: ==== How Can I Help Test? There’s plenty of ways that you can help test. They range from browsing using one of our nightly builds, contacting one of our teams or hopping into one of our events! Of course, if you’re unsure of what we do, we also have a great set of documentation on the how’s and what’s of the things we do for the Mozilla Community. ==== I think the diversity of choice and lack of clear calls to action there means that we'll lose some people that we might catch with more direct requests. What about something like: ==== How Can I Help Mozilla Build High-Quality Products? Thanks for asking! There are lots of ways for you to become part of the Mozilla quality team, even if you're not a technical person. * Run a _nightly build_. By using one of our in-development nightly builds, you'll see new features before most of our users, and it means you may also be the first one to spot bugs. Nightly builds are not for everyone - they change regularly and new features will show up before they are completely polished, but the feedback we get from our nightly users help shape the products we build very directly. If that sounds a little too scary for you, using a _beta build_ gives us the same type of feedback, but keeps you only on things that we consider polished enough to be almost final. * Help our one of our _quality teams_. If you have some technical expertise and want to help build and maintain the tools we use to measure and improve quality, we can always use a hand. * Get involved in an _upcoming event_. Mozilla test days are one of the most powerful tools we have for uncovering new bugs and exploring new features. You'll be taught how to get development builds, how to file bugs, and how to work with developers on producing a fix. However you choose to get involved, thank you. Mozilla's software is built by a community of people just like you, who got involved because they cared about the quality of what we produce, and wanted to lend a hand. ==== Too dreamy?
Good idea, and I like the wording. My only suggestion is to linkify certain keywords. Example: * nightly builds -> ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/nightly/latest-trunk/ * quality teams -> http://quality.mozilla.org/teams/ * upcoming event -> http://quality.mozilla.org/category/events/ Maybe this is what you meant by _thing_, maybe not. I just wanted to throw this out there. Good work!
I like the change. Testing is one way to help us improve our products, but it's not the only activity we are involved in as a QA team.
(In reply to comment #1) > Maybe this is what you meant by _thing_, maybe not. I just wanted to throw > this out there. It is indeed, but thanks for fetching the actual links we want to use. Do we have a review process here, or can someone just take that text (with whatever edits) and make it go? I think aakash believed it to be that simple...
* I think for nightly builds, we should not use the ftp link, but use http://nightly.mozilla.org/ instead.

The page has been updated. If it's not showing up for you, just wait a few minutes. We've been having trouble with caching updates on QMO for the past two days.

Formatting looks wrong on the page - probably a result of copy-pasting from here, and getting bugzilla's forced line breaks?
The text for _beta build_ also still has the underscores around it, should probably link to http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all-beta.html instead.
Aye, the change should be in now
Indeed - word. High fives all round.
Bird's the word!
