We're doing this for every release and we're wasting time on it (e.g. file bug, handle bug etc, e.g. see bug 571213), surely there must be a way to automate it for:

- Creation when under thunderbird/nightly/..../xxx-candidates/buildn/
- rsync into the release directory

Create the contrib* directories at build upload time

This needs review from bhearsum

I am puzzled as to why exactly the moco signing box doesn't have that problem when rsync'ing files to stage, but this makes the permissions explicitly set at the other end, which I like.

I don't really want to take this...can we try and figure out why your contrib dirs don't rsync correctly, instead?

I don't think this is the right approach

FWIW, I spent a fair bit of time trying to figure out why the permissions weren't syncing properly. I chose to solve the problem the way I did to avoid sinking too much time into a solution. It's been running locally for months.
