Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10_6_3; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.16 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0 Safari/533.16 Build Identifier: http://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-3.6.4&os=osx&lang=nl I just installed Firefox 3.6.4, and it won't start anymore. I see the icon blinking in the dock, then nothing happens, and the dot besides the icon indicating the app is working disappears. In the log I see the following message: 23-06-10 21:00:33 com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[188] ([0x0-0x41041].org.mozilla.firefox[487]) Exited with exit code: 1 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Start Firefox Actual Results: - Expected Results: It should start obviously.
The English version has the same problem: http://www.mozilla.com/products/download.html?product=firefox-3.6.4&os=osx&lang=en-US 23-06-10 21:17:27 com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[188] ([0x0-0x5f05f].org.mozilla.firefox[611]) Exited with exit code: 1 Going back to version 3.6.3 doesn't work either: 23-06-10 21:26:43 com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[188] ([0x0-0x77077].org.mozilla.firefox[700]) Exited with exit code: 1 This may well be a problem with my system, but I can't tell yet.
After removing my profile from the library, it works again. It seems like the update has corrupted the profile.
After deleting the profile, Firefox worked again. I could restore my profile from a backup. I may have lost some settings, but it works for the most part, and even better, it's a lot faster.
I've pinned the issue down to the Firefox Sync plugin. When I install that addon, I cannot start Firefox anymore.

Once in a while, I get the same, nasty »Exited with exit code: 1« problem. After hours – including disabling AddOns – I found a workaround: 1. Start Firefox in Safe-Mode by - holding the OPTION key while launching Firefox *or* - running in terminal: /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox-bin -safe-mode 2. Go to Preferences -> Advanced -> Network -> Offline Storage -> CLEAR NOW 3. Quit Firefox and relaunch in normal mode HTH... Oliver

I have the same issue on opensuse11.3 After I quit, i cant restart firefox (it dies right away with no output). The work-around is even easier: 1) start with firefox --safe-mode 2) hit 'quit' button on safe-mode menu (ie, dont do anything in safemode) 3) restart as normal Firefox now starts correctly.
