Windows XP pro sp3 fully patched. task manager shows that firefox.exe runs, it access the net (zonealarm firewall) then hanges. Does not show anyting on the screen. I can kill the process and try again with the same result. If I don't kill the process and try again the memory usage increases but no other difference. Also download site from DE gave me a corrupted file when I tried to reinstall Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.launch firefox 2. 3. Actual Results: nothing, except on task manager can see firefox.exe process Expected Results: expected firefox to start

The corrupted download is a mozilla.org -> FTP: Mirrors bug and not an installer bug. The main issue stated in comment #0 is a general Firefox bug and not an installer bug so moving for further triage.

Reporter, Firefox 4.0.1 has been released, and it features significant improvements over previous releases. Can you please update to Firefox 4.0.1 or later, and retest your bug? Please also create a fresh profile ( http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles), update your plugins (Flash, Java, Quicktime, Reader, etc) and update your graphics driver and Operating system to the latest versions available.
