Video plays, but just show some "grey rectangle" + sound. My system: Ubuntu 10.04 FF 3.6.4 Flash: 10.1 r53 (latest from Adobe) After downgrade to Firefox 3.6.3 all issues are gone. Videos play normally. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install FF 3.6.4 2. Install latest flash plugin from Adobe website (v.10.1 r53) 3. Go to: YouTube.com and try play some videos. Actual Results: Videos don't play propertly.
Does it make a difference if you change dom.ipc.plugins.enabled to false in about:config ?

No.. I don't see any difference.
Edit: Now I have v3.6.6 and was thas issue too.. But, i change this two: dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.libflashplayer.so --> FALSE dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.libnptest.so to --> FALSE and YouTube works ok. Thnx for tip.
Edit 2: The difference make just this one: dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.libflashplayer.so --> FALSE Value "false" = YouTube is OK.
Can you run "xwininfo -tree" and click on the browser showing the youtube page, please? When you scroll the grey rectangle out of view and back into view does it remain plain grey? Does it flicker at all?

Sounds like the plugin is not drawing anything then. Are there any error messages output? Can you run "xwininfo -id <id>" for the "unknown" window and for its parent, please? For the "xwininfo -tree" output in comment 6 this would be xwininfo -id 0x4400004 xwininfo -id 0x32010a1 though the ids will likely differ next time.

Flash Player would be confused by this. I wonder where that ARGB visual came from. Do you have the standard libgtk-2.0 for Ubuntu 10.04? Can you attach the output of xdpyinfo, please? And paste "xwininfo -root"?

Yes that'll be it. We're lucky the plugin doesn't just crash: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gtk+2.0/+bug/491521/comments/77 Maybe we could try to override and make the default widget colormap a RGB only colormap, but that would mean that any dialogs that Flash Player opens would not get themed properly. I was wondering whether GtkDrawingArea should not have an RGBA colormap because IIUC that is intended for application drawing. It would be kind of nice if only themed widgets got the RGBA colormap, but the inheritance model doesn't really align with that goal: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gtk+2.0/+bug/491521/comments/75 The best idea I have so far is that we could override the colormap on the GtkPlug. Though I suspect many applications are going to have similar problems due to assumptions that GTK widgets are using the system colormap. Flash on YT is ok, but my desktop looks hmm.. ugly without "aero" effect ;) Thnx for the tip.
