To reproduce:
1. Go to http://www.google.com/options/buttons.html
2. Click on "Get your google buttons here"
3. Click the "Google Search" link (or add it to bookmarks and use it from there)

(Alternatively, type 
javascript:prompt('Enter text to search using Google. You can also highlight a 
word on this web page before clicking Google Search.');
into your location bar)

Result: prompt window is much taller than expected.


It seems to happen more when the prompt text contains spaces, but I'm not sure 
it's a simple 1 space --> x pixels thing.  This bug doesn't seem to affect 
alerts or confirms.

Adding top100 keyword, because google is a frequently visited site.  Google 
just removed the "Browser buttons" link from its front page (as I was typing 
this bug!), but the page is still reachable through "All about google" -
> "Other ways to google" -> "Browser buttons".

Browser, not engine. Reassigning to Browser-General for further triage -
I have never known which component is responsible for bringing up prompts.


I'm not sure I see the bug, however. At the Google site, I compared the 
prompt from NN4.7 and Mozilla MN6-branch binary 2000102609 on WinNT.
The Mozilla prompt window was actually shorter that NN4.7's! Also, when
I try javascript:prompt('text etc. etc.'), the only thing that seems to 
make the prompt taller is the need to show more lines in a long text.
Spaces in the text per se do not matter.


Jesse, is this still happening for you with a current build? If so,
is there any way you could attach a screenshot comparing the prompt heights
in NN4.7 vs. Mozilla? Thanks -

mass verification of WorksForMe bugs: to find all bugspam pertaining to this,
set your search string to "IfItWorksForSlappyTheSquirrelThenItWFM".

if you think this particular bug is *still* an open issue, please make sure of
the following before reopening:

a. that it's still a problem with ***recent trunk builds*** on the all
appropriate platform[s]

b. provide clear steps to reproduce (unless a good test case is already in the
bug report), making sure it pertains to the original problem (avoid morphing as
much as possible :)
