Catalan (ca) is not one of the supported languages of Maemo, so it does not seem to appear in multilingual builds, and specific ca build needs to be installed. However, if I add 'Mozilla ca catalog' repository from http://www.mozilla.com/ca/m/, even after disabling OVI repository, I do not manage to install Catalan version (yes directly deb package from FTP - but not very user-friendly way). I guess this may affect other languages with no full Maemo support.

Using a community Catalan Maemo (n900-extra-translations), testing Multilanguage Firefox 4.0b3 build I only have the following options in Language preference: * Auto-detect, Polish, Spanish (Spain), Finnish, Czech, Norwegian, Italian, German, Portuguese (European), French, Russian, English (US) There is no way to use any other of the available languages for Fennec from multilanguage builds. Dramatically, I don't see neither a language pack nor a full language build for maemo here: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/mobile/releases/latest-beta/ They can be found in nightly builds, though (that's the way I test my translation) Could, at least, language packs be provided for betas in FTP? For final stable versions there should be an easy way to get Firefox Mobile in all localized versions from the web. I just checked that the same issue is also present in Android version.
Severity: normal → major
OS: Maemo → All
Version: 1.9.2 Branch → Trunk

FWIW, according to http://developer.android.com/sdk/android-2.3.html#locs Android 2.3 supports Catalan locale.

Toni, is this about 4.0 beta or 1.1? Just looking at what I download going from the /ca/m/ page, I think I end up with a single-locale Catalan fennec build for 1.1. The single-locale maemo repacks for 4.0 are broken 'til post-beta-3.

(In reply to comment #2) > FWIW, according to http://developer.android.com/sdk/android-2.3.html#locs > Android 2.3 supports Catalan locale. Thanks Alexander. Yes, I know. In any case, I think that NOT ONLY OS supported locales should be included. Punjabi or Basque should have the chance to have a Firefox Mobile version, as we have for the Desktop one. AFAIK, that was the initial idea.

(In reply to comment #3) > Toni, is this about 4.0 beta or 1.1? > 4.0. Made it clearer in the title. > Just looking at what I download going from the /ca/m/ page, I think I end up > with a single-locale Catalan fennec build for 1.1. > > The single-locale maemo repacks for 4.0 are broken 'til post-beta-3. Good to know. I'll keep a close eye.

Checking my last year email. After having Maemo deprecated, and 11.0 using Android Native skin, what's the status of this?

I guess the original request of this bug is WONTFIX, as we're not doing maemo builds no more. For Android builds, we have other bugs.
