User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; en-US; rv:1.9.2.6) Gecko/20100625 Firefox/3.6.6 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; en-US; rv:1.9.2.6) Gecko/20100625 Firefox/3.6.6 The -moz-background-size property affects page scrolling speed, even when using fixed backgrounds. Especially on lower-spec hardware lags and choppy delays are very noticeable. Please follow the discussion on A List Apart: http://www.alistapart.com/comments/supersize-that-background-please/P0/#10 http://www.alistapart.com/comments/supersize-that-background-please/P10/#15 http://www.alistapart.com/comments/supersize-that-background-please/P10/#20 Five examples are included in the article: http://www.alistapart.com/articles/supersize-that-background-please/ Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Browse to http://www.alistapart.com/d/supersize-that-background-please/index4.html in Firefox 3.6.6 on Mac OSX/10.6.4 with a lower spec machine, like an old dual-core Intel Mac Mini 2. Use the scroll-wheel to scroll, see the noticeable difference in scrolling performance, compared with http://www.alistapart.com/d/supersize-that-background-please/index.html Actual Results: Slow scroll performance Expected Results: Normal scroll performance
I can't really repro that on a now low-end 2007 dual core iMac (2007). Roc, is that something your layer stuff will improve ?

It might be helpful to check out ticket 583354. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=583354 It may/may not be the same issue, but it's much more evident while playing a flash video. Try the html attachment in 3.6.8
This is looking pretty good on Fx4 for me. I didn't have a -too- low spec machine handy though, so please re-open if you're seeing this.
