Details

Quicktime Plugin v5.0a5 and Quicktime Plugin.class v5.0a5 are in the Mozilla
Plugins folder and if a page with a QuickTime movie is loaded, the movie does not
play.

All I could get was a 4.1.2 from quicktime website(that's what they say is the
latest). Pls provide a url to the specific version you mentioned so that I can
chek this.
QuickTime 5 may be obtained via the following URL:

http://www.apple.com/quicktime/preview/
works like magic for me. Installed quicktime player 5.0, copied the quicktime
plugin 4.2 in seamonkey plugins folder(branch build 10/23). Launched quicktime
movies on quicktime.com. It works. Resolving invalid.

I don't understand exactly what this means:

"copied the quicktime plugin 4.2 in seamonkey plugins folder"

And I reported the problem with QuickTime v5.0a5, not 4.X, so how can it be
invalid if it doesn't work for me? Version 4.1.2 did work (where the hell does
that 4.2 come from?), version 5.0a5 doesn't, and it is not for lack of
installing QuickTime improperly. I wouldn't consider this resolved until it
works on my machine, wouldn't you agree?

Is this only an "installer" issue? Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't Quicktime
5 still in beta? I think their installer isn't updated to know about
Mozilla/Netscape 6 so you must copy the plugins manually.

I just went over to a Mac running the lastest build and it played a movie with
Quicktime 5. WFM Mac OS 9 10/24 (branch)

Reporter:
If this is still happening with a nightly build and "manual" install, please
provide a URL to a testcase. Thanks.
Hi, what does doing 'about:plugins'in the url bar show you for the quicktime
plugin version? *It_is_not_necessary that the quicktime player version and the
actual quicktime browser plugin version match. I have seen this in realplayer
too.
>>"copied the quicktime plugin 4.2 in seamonkey plugins folder"
Ok, that was bcos earlier I used 4.x to do the installation and copy over the
plugins to 6.0 installation. NOTE: But...... this works smoothly even after
installing with 6.0. Also, can you pls state the build id or at least the date
of the build used?Thx.
Yes, QuickTime 5 is in beta. Yes, I manually moved the QuickTime Plugin and
QuickTime Plugin.class to the Plug-ins folder for Mozilla. The build I am using
is 2000101014.

Define which component should be "manually" installed, and then maybe I can
answer whether this has been done.

This is what "about:plugins" says:

A bug in M18 that has since been fixed, as I discovered when running the build
