This looks like the Windows-7-specific version of bug 579924. Alice / Loïc, do you see a similar issue on the first line of attachment 458449 [details]? (no scrolling required.) (On Linux, I see a discolored stripe on the left edge of characters)

For me both left and right edges. The exact effect probably depends on the cleartype tuning values(In reply to comment #5) > This looks like the Windows-7-specific version of bug 579924. > > Alice / Loïc, do you see a similar issue on the first line of > attachment 458449 [details]? (On Linux, I see a discolored > stripe on the left edge of characters) For me both left and right edges (all pixels which are not fully opaque or fully transparent look green). The exact effect probably depends on the cleartype tuning values.

All right -- I'm leaving this separate from bug 579924 for now, in case there are platform-specific solutions.

Could this be related to Bug 579276?

Yes, in that it looks like they're both ways in which bug 363861 manifests.
Depends on: 363861
