User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; he-IL; rv:1.9.1.9) Gecko/20100401 Ubuntu/9.10 (karmic) Firefox/3.5.9 Build Identifier: The Lightning addon does not show contacts' birthdays. The Thunderbird addressbook has a Birthday field, yet Lightning does not utilize it. There were addons that fixed this [1][2] but they are abandoned, showing that Mozilla cannot rely on outside addon developers to integrate this critical feature. [1] https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/3680/ [2] https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/9613/ Reproducible: Always
To view events from address book as a calendar in Lightning use the ThunderBirthDay extension. It work fine together with current Thunderbird 3.1.1 and Lightning 1.0b2 release. <https://addons.mozilla.org/thunderbird/addon/5337/>

Hello: I know that this bug report is old. But given the circumstances, I think that it's good to bring it back instead of opening a new one. I've been using ThunderBirthDay for years, but after upgrading to Thunderbird 60.3.0 and Lightning 6.2.3 (in Debian 9), the add-on doesn't work any more. This is something that I expected, because of the change in the add-ons model. But I've checked the website of ThunderBirthDay and it seems to be down. So I guess that the add-on might be considered defunct. Is there any modern alternative to ThunderBirthDay? Is there any plan to make that Lightning reads "natively" the "Birthday" field of the address books? Thank you! Best regards.
Please contact the author of the add-on if you would like it to be compatible. There is already bug 151994 to integrate it.
Thank you for your prompt answer, Philipp. I'll try to contact him/her.
