Yup, I like it, assuming you've tested it. :)

I haven't and can't, because I don't have an account there.

Hi,

i'm from the Support-Team of Kabel E-Mail. I can provide a 100% correct config-file, it is tested and should work fine.

Correct, tested version

This is fixed.

What's wrong with the existing file?

> <emailProvider id="directbox.com">

This is not 100% correct ;-)

Neither

I also do not like the other differences, e.g. display name was better before, you're removing an SSL config variant and adding non-SSL configs. We don't verify vanity domains unless they have significant amounts (tens of thousands) of users.

Thomas, if you want to help, can you please provide a test account for us, given that you're from Kabel Deutschland?
You can email the username and password to me (firstname.lastname@beonex.com). Thanks.

Compare bug 657308 comment 3
> What's wrong with the existing file?
<outgoingServer type="smtp">
<hostname>smtp.kabelmail.de</hostname>
<port>465</port>
<socketType>SSL</socketType>
<username>%EMAILADDRESS%</username>
<authentication>password-cleartext</authentication>
</outgoingServer>

These information aren't correct anymore - currently it is STARTTLS only

Seriously...I posted the wrong file - could slap myself.

Ah - okay, didn't know about that (regarding domains). But I only removed the SSL-Variant for the SMTP-Server and added a Non-SSL-Variant for the POP3-Server. The SMTP-Version was exchanged with STARTTLS, which basicly is the same as SSL.

But as mentioned in the other bug we probably move ahead and will host those files ourselves which would make it easier for us.

If the file is stored on our servers, will Thunderbird check this file first or will it use the file stored in your ispdb? This is what I understood from the documentation around Autoconfiguration.
Yah - nevermind, just read your other post again. As mentioned it actually is faster if the file is hosted at our location.

Thanks for the help :)

I just tried it, and it works.

If STARTTLS is better supported, though, we can change that.

BUT I would strongly recommend to leave it SMTP with direct SSL on port 465 working (there's no harm), otherwise you leave existing users stranded.

(It's also consistent, because the POP server is also directly SSL.)

Ben
Mhm, okay - seems like we didn't change it for Kabel E-Mail though. Allright - SSL will stay where it is ;)

I will provide a test-account for you later this day.

Removing what appears to be an obsolete unassigned feedback request flag as this bug is long fixed.
