smtp.ono.com user@ono.com

I'd like him to prove that there are none. Official statements are not sufficient, because often false. I want to be sure there really are no working SSL servers in existence before enabling an insecure config.

(If there really are no SSL servers, you can remove my review- .)

willyaranda, you only said in comment 4 that the documentation and hotline *claims* there is no SSL server. That's not the same as there really is no SSL server. They often *do* exist and work, even when the hotline and docs claim they do not exist.
I want you to search for servers yourself, e.g. with DNS and netcat and openssl, see <https://developer.mozilla.org/en/Thunderbird/Autoconfiguration/FileFormat/HowTo>. I see no mention of that.

Other question: is ono.com connected to some other ISP, e.g. terra.es?
Also, it seems there is an IMAP server: imap.ono.com

No, it's only this ISP.
I'm testing with the info in MDC for open ports and ssl config.

FWIW, I checked the SSL ports and STARTTLS, and the servers indeed don't seem to support it. Next time, please make that test yourself, though.
