The newly introduced search into the addons manager should react to a user entering a blank search. An empty search should display a users installed addons in order to garner some feedback from querying an empty search. In addition it should remove any previously searched addon results.

Boriss, could you comment here on why we didn't want to do this.

This is 100% a dupe of bug 562948 which has been marked as invalid lately. I would be in favor to dupe this bug and reopen bug 562948 for a final decision. I would also vote for.

It isn't a dupe of that at all, that bug was about how when we did do the search with blank terms it wasn't sorted correctly. That bug would have to be reopened if we do not close this one.

Ok, so bug 562948 comment 2 should be part of this bug then. Let's add the dependency.

I could be remembering wrong, but I think when we first discussed this near the start of the year, we talked about how it'd be nice to have an empty search term act as a shortcut to displaying all installed extensions of all types in one list.

Apparently her and Ben have discussed it since and decided that isn't what we want anymore.
