Steps to reproduce:
1. Use a nightly of SM 2.1 newer than 2010-07-16
2. Open http://tinderbox.mozilla.org/showbuilds.cgi?tree=SeaMonkey in
the browser
2.b Choose a fontsize big enough that there is a horizontal scrollbar.
I am using a fontsize of 20.
3. Scroll right horizontal
3.b If there is no distortion open a new tab and try there
The resulting distortion is shown in the attached picture. The regression range according to the archive of my private builds is
hafi@e675 ~ $ fenster 1007150002-1007160552
2010-07-14 15:02:00 PDT
2010-07-15 20:52:00 PDT
The distortion could not be seen be 2 others using win, but was confirmed by another one using Linux. See thread 'Graphical distortion in recent SM 2.1 Linux nightlies' in mozilla.support.seamonkey 2010-07-26.

It may be that the graphic card and/or the driver should be considered. I am using a Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS with nvidia-drivers 195.36.31.

One additional information. After changing the driver from "nvidia" to "nv" in xorg.conf and restarting X the distortion does no longer appear. Not really a solution because there is a reason why most users will use the Nvidia driver. ;)

I'm using the nouveau driver (3D off) and I've also never seen this problem.
Probably depends on the bug to use XCopyArea

After applying the pending patch https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachment.cgi?id=458928 from bug 579736 the distortion is gone in my just compiled SM 2.1. :)

I see this with Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:2.0b3pre) Gecko/20100727 SeaMonkey/2.1a3pre; but indeed I have a GeForce 8800 GTS with NVidia driver 190.53...
I see this on trunk with ATI Radeon X300

Given comment 6, this can probably just be a dupe.

Well, the patch mentioned in comment #6 does *not* fix the issue for me, eg for <http://www.myspace.com/monoincmusic>.

We'll need https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=29250 for that,
and probably a new Mozilla bug to track it.

In my recently compiled fresh build of SM 2.1 on Linux with the above mentioned patch the distortion when scrolling the tinderbox is gone. An immediately following build without the patch showed the error again.
@Karsten in comment 10:
I do not see any error on this side with either of builds, even with Flashblock and Adblock disabled.

Really a dupe? I cannot reproduce the problem of bug 579736 here. Doesn't show up on a build without the patch. And also not on one with it.

The results of the same undefined operation differ according to graphics hardware and drivers.
