User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:2.0b2) Gecko/20100720 Firefox/4.0b2 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729)
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:2.0b2) Gecko/20100720 Firefox/4.0b2 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729)

When performing a search in the search bar, when autocomplete results are returned in a drop-down list, they always appear on the primary monitor of a dual-monitor setup, regardless of which monitor the active window is located in.

For instance,
Firefox window is on Monitor 1, search autocomplete results are displayed correctly.
Firefox window is on Monitor 2, search autocomplete results are still displayed on monitor 1 in a free-floating window.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Move Firefox window to secondary monitor
2. Perform a search in the search bar
3. Wait to allow auto-complete results to return
Actual Results:
Autocomplete results appear on incorrect monitor in a free-floating pane.

Expected Results:
Autocomplete results should appear in the correct monitor directly underneath the search bar

Starting with a freshly created profile did not change the behavior.
Thank you for this report however it is a duplicate of a known issue. It will be resolved in an upcoming beta. I think this fix missed the beta 3 release. However the fix will definitely be in beta 4. If you want a build with the fix, you can find such a build at http://nightly.mozilla.org

I tried searching for any existing bugs with the keywords "search monitor" and 575328 never showed up in the results. I hate creating duplicate bugs - but when they don't show up when searching the database, how is one supposed to know that it is already resolved?
We would rather get the bug and have it be a duplicate than not get the bug at all. If you have the time before filing a bug visit irc://irc.mozilla.org/firefox and ask about it.
That fix actually made b3, which you should be able to update to using Help->Check for updates.
You need to log in before you can comment on or make changes to this bug.
