Do you get any errors in Tools/Error Console ?
Could be the fault of the addon itself.
Do you get this only with the options of Downloadheper-4.8 ?
Component: General → Add-ons Manager
Product: Firefox → Toolkit
QA Contact: general → add-ons.manager
Version: unspecified → 1.9.2 Branch

I would say an invisible options window is shown and blocks the add-ons manager window? Shirish, when you do those steps and press ESC afterward, does it enable you to close the add-ons manager?

Wait, when you click "Options" the option dialog for the video download helper opens? If not, please disable all the other installed extensions and restart Firefox to try again.

Shirish, it would be fantastic if you could give me an answer to comment 10. I don't have the time to check all those extensions. Please enable those step by step until the issue starts again. Thanks.

Is this also the case when the download helper is disabled too?

Now i am not able to disable the download helper, because any Enable/Disable button is not working. I clicked on disabled button to disable download helper and restarted Firefox, but when it came up,the download helper was still enabled. I tried the all Enable disable buttons from the extensions list, but none is working.

Henrik,
I noticed a message saying "Version 4.8 is available". I feel the issue is related to this message. Please find the attached screen shot named "Version message.jpg".

Can you please create a fresh profile (http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Managing+profiles) and only install the download helper? Does the problem persist for you?

As per your above comment, I created a new profile and installed only Download helper, but as per new screen shot which i am attaching today, there were total 4 add-ons got installed, then I repeated the steps and clicked on "Option" button, it worked fine. Issue got resolved.

So I would say an extension in your old profile is causing this trouble. Go to Help | Troubleshooting information and select the button to open the profile folder. Manually move extension folders from extensions/extensionid to another folder outside of the profile and restart Firefox in between until the problem is solved.

You have to close Firefox before you can move those files safely.

I tried to move extensions folders after closing the browser, but all are getting recreated once when i opened the add-on manager again.Followed below steps-
1)Opened the extension folder and selected any one/all extensions and then moved on to another in different drive.
2)Closed browser.
3)Restarted browser.
4)Opened Addon manager.
5)No changes were ther on addon list, I selected and clicked on the Options button for the download helper addon.
Got the same failure and addon manager could not be closed afterwords.Confirmed that the all folders got recreated under extensions folder which i had moved already.

You should really flip those steps because as long as Firefox runs, some files are locked. With any add-on removed from this folder, none should appear in the add-ons manager.
Another example you could do, please move/copy those extension files into the new profile you have formerly created. Those extensions will be automatically detected. Please check if another profile causes the same behavior. If yes create a zip archive from the new profile and send it to my email address. thanks
