Umm...
We can't just make our own plugin of a commercial product and then copyright it
with the corporation name. We need permission from Lycos to do this.

I've included a possible search plugin that could be used at first.
We'd like to work with mozilla to have a lycos search plugin permanently, if
possible.

I'm at Terra Lycos. I can't give permission now, but I can facilitate official
permission being given. We'd like to work with you to have Lycos search included
in the Mozilla search bar.

<smacks himself> Ah, I didn't see that you were from Lycos. Cool. Confirming

The person to contact for official permissions on this is Monty Solomon
(msolomon@lycos-inc.com). Apparently, copies of the appropriate files have
already been handed to Netscape for inclusion with NS6, so it should be trivial to
add them to the mozilla distribitions.

Netscape 6 includes Lycos and Hotbot search, so it should be pretty easy to get
this into the Mozilla releases too, no?

Netscape nav triage team: as per Matt Fisher's pre-triage recommendation, this
bug is nsbeta1-.

there are plugins at sherlock.mozdev.org that facilitates this, is this bug
still valid?
Comment 11•24 years ago

Marking nsbeta1- bugs as future to get off the radar.

URL change in Comment #10: The sherlock project has changed to Mycroft:
http://mycroft.mozdev.org.
Also, I would say, this bug is still valid, since it is about adding it
permanently to Mozilla, not just creating the plugin. Michael Witbrock can you
please confirm this is still the intention?

It's hard to impossible to get any new search engine plugins checked in. As it
was mentioned before, go to the mycroft website where you can add them as you
wish. Wontfix.
