Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.12pre) Gecko/20100811 SeaMonkey/2.0.7pre Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.12pre) Gecko/20100811 SeaMonkey/2.0.7pre I evidently created a duplicate Helper Application for PDF files. There is no way to delete an 'Helper Application' from the Preference window. Deleting one or both entries in mimeType.rdf file did not do the trick. This only resulted in the 'Content Type' reappearing with the 'Action' showing 'Always Ask'. Even if this had worked, a novice computer user would be stumped on how to resolve the problem. Removal of a Helper Application should be available from the 'Preference' window. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Add a new 'Helper Application' (same as an existing one) 2. Now, try to delete either one or both. 3. Actual Results: Unable to remove 'Content Type'. Only removed the 'Action'. Expected Results: Should have removed the 'Content Type'.
Version: unspecified → SeaMonkey 2.0 Branch
I resolved the problem by creating a TEST profile and copying that mimeTypes.rdf file to my active profile. This bug should remain open. In SM 1.x you could edit the Helper information from the EDIT/PREFERENCES/BROWSER/HELPER APPLICATION window. You can no longer edit from there.
Summary: Unable to delete duplicate 'Helper Application' → Unable to edit 'Helper Applications'
How did you create a duplicate entry in the first place?
(In reply to comment #2) > How did you create a duplicate entry in the first place? I have no idea. Evidently someplace along the line when I clicked on a .pdf file I must have hit a key I shouldn't have. I do know that it only showed up in 2.07pre sometime in the last month or so.
If the SeaMonkey 'Helper Applications' and Firefox 'Applications' prefs are the same codebase, this can be rolled into bug 451260.
