Hi Alex, Similar to what we have for Firefox.com/m/beta, Stuart would like this page for alpha. (Firefox.com/m/alpha). This alpha release will only be available in en-us. Unlike the beta page, this page will have the same elements but will should be branded "Fennec" with the Fennec logo. The header can be: Try the most customizable mobile Web browser. Instead of the link "See our supported platforms and devices" please replace with "Release Notes" and "Android System Requirements" links. Rel Notes: https://www.mozilla.com/mobile/2.0a1/releasenotes/ System Requirements:https://wiki.mozilla.org/Mobile/Platforms/Android#System_Requirements Please let me know if you have questions.

Hey Alex, Just wanted to get a status update on this page or any questions you may have. We're aiming to release alpha tomorrow, Aug 25. Thanks!

(In reply to comment #1) > Hey Alex, > Just wanted to get a status update on this page or any questions you may have. > We're aiming to release alpha tomorrow, Aug 25. Thanks! Just need the logo, bug 586667, and the actual list of locales the alpha will support. BTW, I'd really appreciate more than 2 days heads up on projects. My todo list is always at least 1 week long.

Apologies, the link is Firefox.com/m/beta. (template for /m/alpha) I know your crazy schedule. Please know that I do everything I can to give you ha heads up at the earliest possible moment. This is a request from Stuart that I received at noon yesterday. I'll be sure to keep communicating your schedule to the team.

Alex Buchanan reported to me a couple of hours ago that this page needs to be checked in and QA'd. Can I get a status update?

it isn't for me. using www-trunk.stage.mozilla.com/en-US/m/alpha on a nexus one. it says "Your device is not supported" UA: Mozilla/5 (Linux; U; Android 2.2; en-us; Nexus One Build/FRF91) AppleWebkit/533.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4 Mobile Safari/533.1

Found the problem. I was trying to match OS version (for > 2.0), but the library doing the detection isn't spitting out the right version. e.g. the UA above is clearly android 2.2, but the library shows 0.5 I'm debugging now, to see if the library has a field that is more accurate. Plan B: I could remove the OS version detection

Still does not work with latest Fennec nightly on N900 Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux armv7l; rv:2.0b5pre) Gecko/20100825 Namoroka/4.0b5pre Fennec/2.0b1pre

or I suppose another option would be to update the detection data file to include UAs that aren't working.

broken in Fennec nightly on Android, same UA as above except Android instead of X11 Given this is now the only blocker for release, it might be worth disabling detection for now.

also, i'll add these UAs to an automated test case. If you want to post the UAs of the devices you're testing with, that would be helpful.

Not sure what Rel Notes and System Requirements link was removed from this page -- I suspected that it had something to do with device detection troubles. That said, now that the page is working and pushed live, we really need to get those links back on the page.

That > said, now that the page is working and pushed live, we really need to get those > links back on the page. 1. http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/m/alpha/ isn't live; am I missing something? 2. I don't have an Android phone, but when I hit http://www-trunk.stage.mozilla.com/en-US/m/alpha with the user-agent mentioned in comment 18 (via general.useragent.override in Firefox with the UA as type |string|), I get: http://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-mobile-2.0a1&os=android&lang=en-US as a link.

(In reply to comment #31) > 1. http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/m/alpha/ isn't live; am I missing something? trailing slash doesn't work :( try this, http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/m/alpha
Looks like it's good live, with the exception of comment 30's requested changes. I'll re-QA when those are in. BTW, Caitlin, if the Mobile team could work with Chris Howse or Madhava on getting interaction designs for upcoming (and existing) Mobile pages (with a compiled list of supported/unsupported user-agents and their expected associated behaviors), that would help us tremendously, and reduce the amount of churn and time-to-QA; thanks. We're at the stage now where we're both writing automated tests for Mobile, as well as preparing for the Mozilla.com redesign, and I'd like to have a clearer test strategy going forward -- having the above would make that much easier.
