Set your 3 pane so the thread pane is small.
Have a bunch of new mail in your inbox.
Launch into mail.
Click on the grippy to close the message pane.
result is a big gap of white space that scrolls with the tree. After it's been
scrolled off-screen, it goes away.
expected the tree to repaint properly.

Outliner will land to replace the tree in the threadPane. Marking WONTFIX.
