It would be helpful to be able to switch the server which holds the test data depending on the test run you want to execute. We don't always wanna use the local httpd server but also will have content located on another server, which can be located in the intranet or somewhere else. The idea came up in the last QA test automation meeting by Matt. He will do some more investigation what limits us from using another local (intranet) web server for test-runs on buildbot. He will comment the results here.
No input, no clear ideas here. Therefore, it's not going to make 2.0. I tend to think things like this will more easily resolve themselves when we package the httpd.js as a standalone component because it will more easily allow us to make use of its proxies without heavily customizing our profile directory (which is how that currently works on mochitest).
