The window showing details of the hovered element is always moving from top to bottom, even (more annoyingly) when using its scrollbar. See the attached screencast.
FWIW, my windows manager is "awesome". It doesn't happen with metacity.

It's possible that the fix for bug 583037 may take care of this as well. I'm not positive about that.
Thanks for the report!

Mike, what window manager are you using. It looks like it's trying to help out with positioning. Also, which version of Firefox are you using? I don't see titlebars, so I'm guessing Beta 2?
Kevin, it's possible that that bug may help, but maybe not. We need more information.
Thanks for the report.
Depends on: 583037

As per comment 0, the window manager is "awesome".

It's a tiling window manager, so it can be doing such things, though the resulting behaviour looks weird.

Latest beta as of today, so beta4.

Thanks for the feedback, Mike. We saw another bug pertaining to tiling window managers (xmonad) which I'm duping to this one as the screencast here is helpful.

Not sure this is entirely related. At least in awesome, the windows are more stable than what the reporter of the other bug reported about xmonad.

It got much worse in the meanwhile: not only does it move, but now its contentless: only the background colors are there, no text.

xfce + compiz, I get this bug too.

Where does this happen? HTML and JS inspectors. Anywhere else?
This is probably a more general <panel> bug.
We could:
a) fix the panels;
b) not use panels, but normal windows;
c) get inline content (inside the webconsole, like console.dir()).
I would prefer c).

The severity field for this bug is relatively low, S3. However, the bug has 3 duplicates.
:spohl, could you consider increasing the bug severity?

The last needinfo from me was triggered in error by recent activity on the bug. I'm clearing the needinfo since this is a very old bug and I don't know if it's still relevant.
