in firefox 4 beta 4, it seems like app tabs work perfectly. However, if i accidentally close it, it will not be there when you open firefox again.
Furthermore, when you open a new window (not new tab, and the first window is still there), the app tabs would not be in the second window (the app tabs are missing)

This bug was reported using a pre-release version of Firefox 4. Now that Firefox 4.0.1 final has been released, can you please update and retest your bug? A fresh profile would be a good starting place to test,

Pinned tabs are kept when restarting Firefox. If a tab is closed before quitting Firefox, it's not longer there, but this is natural. You can recover it with Ctrl+Shift+T.

Pinned tabs are not imported in new windows, but I think this is by design. Someone working on Tabbed Browser should confirm this though.
