Turns out bug 578626 is still an issue for the "close fennec" dialog that pops up when you try to open fennec while fennec's already running.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
1. Run fennec
2. On the command line, run "fennec -no-remote"
ACTUAL RESULTS:
The "Close Fennec" dialog appears, but it has no meaningful content, and instead has part of the screen painted over it. (In my case, it has the "Ctrl|Tab|Esc|PgUp|PgDn|" buttons from the Terminal window painted on top of it.)
It looks much like attachment 457278 [details].
EXPECTED RESULTS:
The content supposed to say something like "fennec's already running, please close it".
I'm running the latest Fennec nightly (off of the mozilla-central-based branch)

Alternate steps to reproduce:
1. Do something wrong so that fennec hangs or fails to shut down cleanly. :)
2. Try to start Fennec from the command-line.

Confirmed, I'm seeing something like the attached screenshot.
I guess Fennec can't handle the case when an alert dialog has to be displayed and there is no Fennec running itself.
