It would be nice to have a 'show my windows from last time, open to panorama view' option in the prefs->general->when minefield starts dropdown. Seems like that would be much more useful to open up to than whichever tab I had open last.

This sounds great. I'm guessing this bug belongs in the "preferences" component, so moving it there. 

I'm happy to do the Panorama side of this, but we need the preferences folks to weigh in, and also to expose it in the dialog.

It's way too late in the game for this to happen for fx4. Hopefully we can revisit it in the near future.

Panorama is gone as of 2016. Replacements https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/panorama-tab-groups/ https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/simple-tab-groups/

But there is a request to bring it back per Bug 1509350 - Provide tab groups (panorama)
