build id: 1999050317 platform tested: windows nt if you go the above url, the bwglobe4.gif image has an inordinately long pause before it animates itself again. that is, the globe spins, you wait about two seconds, it spins again. in nav 4.6, it spins continuously. in ie 5, it spins continuously. if you load just the image itself (http://schist/bwglobe4.gif), it does spin continuously. does this mean there are performance issues with animated GIFs? (I've also seen problems at ty.com with performance.)

Hi, Chris --- I believe this is a duplicate of 2148. If you agree with this conclusion, could you perhaps improve the phrasing of that bug title, so that its subject matter would be more precise? (it's very ambiguous, and I assume it didn't come up under any searches you probably did before writing the bug report.) Of course, if you don't agree with this conclusion, please re-open with your comments. Thanks! *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 2148 ***
I agree. Animated gif behavior depend on changes in netlib. All animated gif timing issues should be held until Necko lands. -pn
