Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:2.0b7pre) Gecko/20100923 Firefox/4.0b7pre
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:2.0b7pre) Gecko/20100923 Firefox/4.0b7pre

Everytime I change the toolbars layout, buttons are moved or removed on or from toolbars these settings are not saved and after exiting of Firefox these settings are not restored to my setting but to default browser configuration.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Start Firefox
2.Right click on toolbar and pressing customize...
3.Move or remove or add of button on toolbars
4.Pressing of done button in customize menu
5.Closing of Firefox
6.Starting of Firefox

Actual Results:
Toolbars have the default layout

Expected Results:
Toolbars should have the layout set by me, not by application default setting.
Version: unspecified → Trunk
Jakub: Does this happen even in Safe Mode? Go to Help->Restart with Addons Disabled and see if you can reproduce the problem.
When I do this step then Firefox is opened in default layout. Nothing is set as I did it. After exiting of safe mode and opening of Firefox, layout is also set to default. When I update Firefox with nightly build, it is also set to Firefox default layout. This is really annoying bug :-)

Works for me. Also, try creating a new profile and check if you are able to reproduce.

I ran into the same issue. In my case, Write Area (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6147/) add-on was the culprit - well, not exactly culprit, because it does not claim compatibility with 4.0b7pre. But after I disabled it, Firefox now remembers toolbar customization across restarts.

I found this by disabling all add-ons and enabling them one-by-one.
Actually I found that when I have installed and enabled add-on PDF Download then layout is not saved and everything is restored to application defaults after restart of application. I need also to test how it will be after installation of new nightly release. So for now I uninstalled PDF Download add-on and it works.

I will report how it will be after installation of new night built.
So two night builts installed and add-on PDF Download disabled in both cases and problem disappeared. Now everything is fine. Thread should be closed as problem was cause by problematic add-on.
Thank you
I too am having this problem - specifically with the navigation toolbar. other toolbars are not affected as far as I can tell. Not using PDF Download or other extensions - only adblock plus, LastPass, and Test Pilot.
I am currently having this problem with Firefox 4.0.1. I have changed the layout of the toolbars multiple times, and after exiting all instances of Firefox and restarting it, it has reset back to the default layout once again. I have this behaviour replicated on 2 different systems.
I am also having toolbar reset on exit problem in FF5.
I have this issue too, on one PC out of 4. I can't fix it by installing, resetting Firefox, removing localstore.rdf.
Severity: normal → S3
