User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:2.0b6) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0b6 Build Identifier: 20100927030712 I have been installed the release 0.1.27 of Grafx Bot. But the hardware acceleration does not work. I’m using Linux 64bit with the stock Ubuntu Desktop 10.04.1 LTS (plus latest updates). My hardware is a Lenovo Thinkpad T500 laptop with just an Intel card GM45. Once I clicked start on the grafx bot page (after creating a new profile and installing the extension), it is requesting to restart Firefox, so I did, but then when it is again started I only see the window border, the inner part is blank (background colour only). Though the page and menu are there, because the mouse arrow changes when hovering over the empty areas. By trial/error I manage to hit the start button, and the test started, I even got the result window (I know it only from the window title), but also for the 2 popup windows, the inner part of all of them were just blank. So I could not give any feedback, because I did not find how to send it. But hardware acceleration obviously does not work on my platform. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Take FF 4.0b7pre 2. Create a new, clean profile 3. Install Grafx Bot extension, which will active upon restart the hardware acceleration Actual Results: After restarting FF, all Windows are blanked, but the actual content is there, the mouse cursor is changing when moving it over the blank area. Expected Results: Almost the same but with something visible within the window border Blank, new profile used Just one extension installed: Grafx Bot Linux Ubuntu 64bit (10.04.1 LTS) Firefox 4.0b7pre 64bit Lenovo Thinkpad T500 w/ Intel GM45 graphic card
GrafxBot restarts in order to set layers.accelerate-all=true and layers.accelerate-none=false.
fwiw, I've seen reports of this problem on 4.0b6, but this is the first I've seen on 4.0b7pre (which is the minimum version required for GrafxBot 0.1.27).

(In reply to comment #0) > Lenovo Thinkpad T500 w/ Intel GM45 graphic card something to do with the issue on Intel Graphics, like on Windows ?
I can probably try it also on Windows. But I have Windows XP, I'm not sure if h/w acceleration should be working on XP or not. If you want me to give it a try let me know.
It's working on Windows XP using D3D 9. I meant to say, don't worry if few mozilla developers reply right now to bugs related to x11 GL drivers, it's just that our focus right now is on windows and mac, but eventually we'll move to linux. The situation is just different there with quite buggy GL implementations. I can say though that with the NVIDIA proprietary driver things run very well.
Nvidia proprietary drivers here, but things not running at all well on 4.0b8pre nightly. Running Grafx Bot or manually forcing all accelerations results in *extreme* slowdown of rendering combined with 100% CPU. Visually everything does appear correct, just about a hundred times too slow. I can provide further details if this is not a known issue for the developers.
This is certainly not a known issue. It would be interesting to know if you can find some past nightly that used to work, and bisect from there; or if it's always been broken for you (in that case, please tell us some relevant system info, at least nvidia card and driver version).
It has been slow since the first b7pre that showed up, although I didn't notice at first because I didn't force all accelerations until I tried Grafx Bot. Nvidia FX 5200, driver 96.43.18, GLX version 1.4, OpenGL version 2.1.0 NVIDIA 96.43.18 Linux Crunchbang 9.04 32 bit, single fairly basic desktop with no compositing or fancy effects.
Please file the nvidia issue as a separate bug.
Summary: Grpahical hardware acceleration does not work on Linux, blank windows → hardware acceleration does not work on Linux w/ intel GM45, blank windows
Duplicate of bug 594308?
I get the same problem, running my own 64-bit build from mozilla-central on a clean profile, ever since OpenGL was enabled by default. Any new window is empty; only the title gets updated. But the content and chrome are still there and can be interacted with, they just don't draw. Resizing the window restores the proper chrome and content display for me, do you get the same results? This problem only appears for me with "use hardware acceleration when available" is checked. about:support tells me GPU Accelerated Windows 1/1 OpenGL Platform should be changed to all, as I'm on a Mac: x86_64-apple-darwin10.4.0 Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; rv:2.0b8pre) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0b8pre
Michael, that's bug 603134.

I think this can be closed? If not any because in 7 years heaven and earth moved, at least because regardless it's a mere duplicate like another of bug 594876 (assuming firefox would be fine already with OGL 2.1 plus some extension, which.. I think it should?)
