601192 - [Update]Fennec: Empty update.xml file due to version bump from 2.0bXpre to 4.0bXpre

Today morning I opened Fennec on my nexus one. It was yesterdays build(9/30). I did not get a update notification for todays build in the status bar of android.

Looking at the error console with the update errors, it reports that there are no updates.  The URL in the log file is : 
https://aus2.mozilla.org/update/4/Fennec/4.0b2pre/20100930041950/Android_arm-eabi-gcc3/en-US/nightly/Linux%202.6.32.9-g59f0395/default/default/2.0b7pre/update.xml

It does not show a proper .xml file.  On the server itself, a properly found .xml file can be found :

The first URL returns an XML with just an empty <updates> element.

The second URL was just a guess (an URL with any build ID after "/2.0bpre/" seems to work). It looks like the recent version number change from 2.0 to 4.0 was not handled properly on the server side.

BTW, we are working on auto-running the AUSv2 test suite in bug 601286, please go ahead and check this in and I'll make sure it gets tested, before it gets deployed.

Not to burst my own bubble, but looking at the production push process I realize that this test does not currently test changes to config-dist.php anyway (since it's manually merged by IT into config.php when it gets pushed to production).

I think we need a staging box (or if we have one, Hudson should know about it). Filed bug 601861 about that.
